Mobile page views soar as online activity falls
Less Australians went online in April than March but mobile page views have continued to soar throughout the last 12 months, according to Nielsen’s new ‘Australian online landscape review’.
The report, which provides a snapshot of Australia’s online habits for April 2012 compared to March, reveals that while the number of online Australians has dropped over 5% month-on-month to 15.3 million, views of mobile pages have skyrocketed by 182% to 221,192,586 in April this year.

iPad cracks top 5 mobile devices
Mobile advertising impressions shot up 156% last year with Apple devices accounting for more than half of those, according to the latest figures from InMobi.
The iPhone leads the way as the most used device with 43.7% of impressions, with iPod second on 5.6%, the Samsung Galaxy SII third (4.9%), iPad fourth (4.7%) and Blackberry 9700 fifth on 4%.
Overall Apple devices accounted for 53% of impressions, with Samsung devices on 12%.

Woolies to be the first bricks and mortar to top $1 billion online
SMH reports Australian retailer Woolworths is projecting annual online sales will reach $1 billion by 2014 - buying on web sites and smart phone applications.
Accessing the Internet by mobile device doubled in 2011, data shows.
Over the past 12 months, mobile access to the Internet nearly doubled to 8.5%, not counting tablets, according to data released this week by StatCounter, a Web analytics company.
The vast majority of Internet usage is still tied to desktop PCs, the data shows. Yet in the fast-growing mobile space, the name that dominates the PC world, Microsoft, is invisible. Nokia remains the leading mobile vendor worldwide, but the Web page-view numbers show a company in decline over the past year, as is Research in Motion, when compared to Apple. The growing mobile operating systems are iOS and Android.

Spanish banking giant BBVA is switching its 110,000 staff to use Google’s range of enterprise software. The deal is the biggest that the search giant has signed with one company for its cloud-computing services, where software is offered as a service via the internet. The bank told the BBC it will use Google’s tools only for internal communication
